Due to the Black Stars’ ongoing campaign at the ongoing 2026 FIFA World Cup, the Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL) has unveiled a unique transformation of Accra International Airport to create excitement among travellers and rally support for the national team at the global showpiece.
In partnership with DDP Outdoor, Republic Bank, MullenLowe Accra, and the Ghana Football Association (GFA), GACL has transformed key airport spaces, including the arrival and departure halls, into vibrant fan zones celebrating Ghana’s qualification for and participation in the World Cup.
According to GACL Managing Director, Yvonne Nana Afriyie Opare, the initiative aims to bring Ghanaians and travellers together in the spirit of the World Cup through interactive activities such as branded football and penalty simulation challenges, a Spin & Win booth, football quizzes with instant rewards, and stadium-themed photo opportunities.
All travellers arriving at or departing from the airport are eligible to participate in the activation and stand a chance of winning prizes, including jerseys, mini footballs, pens, baseball caps, key rings, face towels, and chocolates.
For every traveller who engages with the activation, the experience is designed to be fun, memorable, and closely aligned with the broader goal of supporting the Black Stars.

Speaking at a brief unveiling ceremony at the Arrival Hall of Terminal 3 in Accra on Wednesday morning, Mrs Opare explained that travellers entering or leaving the country would be encouraged to participate in the activities and share in the excitement throughout the six-week football festival, which kicked off last Thursday in Mexico City.
The GACL Managing Director confidently predicted a 2-1 victory for the Black Stars over Panama in Wednesday’s opening match. She also announced that all GACL staff would be required to wear national team jerseys every Friday and on every match day involving Ghana throughout the tournament.
“We are all in support of the Ghana Black Stars, and this initiative is an opportunity to demonstrate our commitment to the national team and create memorable experiences for our travellers,” she said.
“We want every passenger to join in the fun and create lasting memories. So whenever you pass through Accra or any of our regional airports, remember to join in the excitement and throw your support behind our Black Stars as they seek to make Ghana proud at the World Cup,” Mrs Opare added.
Also speaking at the event, General Manager of DDP Outdoor Limited, Senah Vuley expressed gratitude to GACL, the GFA, Republic Bank, and MullenLowe Accra for their support and called for nationwide backing of the Black Stars during their World Cup campaign in North America.
“The Black Stars have given us a few heartbreaks in the past, but I am confident this is going to be a good tournament for Ghana,” Mr Vuley said.
“We encourage travellers to join us in celebrating the Black Stars and creating memorable experiences as they pass through Accra International Airport, where exciting prizes await lucky participants,” he added.
