VIDEO: Watch Tariq Lamptey's assists in Brighton's 3-1 victory over Man United
Ghanaian defender Tariq Lamptey put in a stellar performance for Brighton and Hove Albion as they secured a notable victory against Manchester United at Old Trafford, marking the return of the English Premier League after the international hiatus.
Lamptey, who recently recovered from an injury, was absent from Ghana's matches against the Central African Republic and Liberia. His comeback to competitive play took place in the match against Newcastle United prior to the international break.
Brighton's coach, Roberto De Zerbi, strategically positioned the English-born right-back in an unusual left-back role against Manchester United. The 22-year-old rose to the occasion, contributing significantly with two assists in Brighton's triumphant 3-1 win.
The Seagulls took the lead in the first half with a goal from English-born Ghanaian player, Danny Welbeck. Lamptey then provided the assist for the second goal, finished by Pascal Gross, after the break.
In another impressive play, Lamptey played a pivotal role in Joao Predro's goal, securing Brighton's third, as De Zerbi's team outplayed Manchester United in front of their home crowd.
In recognition of his outstanding performance, Lamptey was rightfully named the Player of the Match by Brighton.
In the later stages of the game, Tunisian youngster Hannibal Mjebri managed to pull one goal back for the hosts.
