Monaco's Mohammed Salisu undergoes groin surgery, faces extended spell on sidelines

AS Monaco have confirmed that Mohammed Salisu, the 24-year-old Ghanaian international, has undergone surgery for pubalgia, a condition affecting the groin area.

This procedure is expected to keep him sidelined for a number of weeks.

Salisu's transfer to Monaco from Southampton earlier this summer encountered a setback as he didn't arrive in peak physical condition.

While he did not immediately join the first-team setup, recent training sessions with his new colleagues suggested a forthcoming return. Adi Hütter, Monaco's coach, even hinted at the possibility of seeing the former Southampton centre-back in action after the international break.

However, it has now been determined that Salisu will undergo surgery to address his pubalgia, a lingering groin issue that has affected him since his arrival in the Principality.

AS Monaco's official statement noted, "Following persistent pain during the international break, Mohamed Salisu (pubalgia) will undergo a surgical intervention in the coming days." The statement did not specify the duration of Salisu's absence from play.

The €15 million signing has yet to make his debut for Monaco, and this surgery will delay his anticipated entry onto the field.
