Stop Odotei, Akanbi from signing players - Hearts fans demand

Angry supporters of Accra Hearts of Oak have implored the Board of Directors of the club to restrain board members, Vincent Sowah Odotei and Alhaji Brimah Akanbi, from signing players for the club.

They also appealed to the board to appoint a new coach of international repute, who would be given a free hand to buy players he deems fit to deliver for the club.

They also demanded that such a coach should have a specific role and the sole authority to select players for matches.

The Phobian fans made the call at the National Chapter Committee (NCC) Forum at the Civil Service Auditorium in Accra last Saturday.

In all, over 190 delegates of the NCC converged on the auditorium for the first time in four years to deliberate on issues affecting the club and chart a new path for their darling club.

They were joined by some supporters of the club who later held a separate forum to make demands they believed would ensure the success of the club in the coming season.

At the forum, the delegates extended the tenure of the NCC executives by a year and proposed to review a bye-law to ensure that the tenure of the NCC leadership was in tandem with the climax of each season.

According to the Chairman of the NCC, Elvis Herman Hesse, that would enable the NCC to hold a timely congress to deliberate on issues and elect new leaders every four years.

"Our term of office ended last June but the delegates have given us a one-year extension. We are also reviewing a law in our constitution to ensure that the season ends before we have our congress," he told Graphic Sports.

He stressed that the club had some challenges last season but remained hopeful for a better season this time around.

He called on all supporters of Hearts to unite behind the Oak Tree and make it capable of challenging for trophies on the continent.
