Another building has collapsed in Accra during rainfall.

This time, it happened on Sunday morning in the North Industrial Area at Avenor, opposite the Ashfoam Showroom and adjacent to Melcom Plus.

Firefighters and officials from the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) are present at the scene on a rescue operation .(See video below).

Two people have been rescued and taken to the hospital.

One of them, according to the Public Relations outfit of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) was in a critical condition.

Officers from the Circle Fire Station and the National headquarters of GNFS were the first responders.

One of the rescued victims was trapped in a mosque, which is adjacent to the collapsed building.

Two bodies have since been retrieved from the rubble.

A similar incident at Adenta last Wednesday, June 3, resulted in the death of one person.

The Vice President, Prof Naana Jane Opoku Agyemang has visited the scene of the incident and reiterated the need for people to "do the right things."

"Let's abide by the rules," she said, and called for a proper investigation for a better account with people opening themselves up for proper accounts.
