betPawa Premier League: Legon Cities hold Hearts of Oak

Accra Hearts of Oak failed to take advantage of the presence of their home supporters as they split points with Legon Cities in their betPawa Premier League game played at the Accra Stadium on Sunday, November 12, 2023.

It is the second straight season that the Phobians have failed to beat their city rivals in their own backyard in the league.

Hearts who were coming from two successive drawn games were looking for victory to lift them up the league log.

But Legon Cities were determined to walk away with a point as they were tactically disciplined at the rear to prevent Hearts from causing any havoc.

The Phobians made an impressive start to the game but could not find the back of the net.

Occasionally, Legon Cities also threatened the goal area of Hearts of Oak but they were unable to score.

After recess both teams lifted up their game, with Hearts looking the more purposeful in attack but they often came against the resilient defence of Legon Cities.

Determined to win the game, Hearts maintained the pressure on the visitors, and heading towards the final minutes of the game they came close to scoring but that effort was wasted. The eight additional minutes could not produce any goal.

This is the sixth draw of Hearts of Oak this season, and their failure to win has put them on the 11th position on the league log with 12 points just as Legon Cities but with superior goal advantage.
