Kumasi: COVID-19 Private Fund donates to Cheshire Home and Children's Home
The Ghana COVID-19 Private Sector Fund which was formed in response to government’s call on the private sector to support the fight against COVID-19 has presented assorted food items to two critical institutions which appear to have been neglected during the pandemic.
The sector led by Ecobank donated the items to the Kumasi Cheshire Home, a member of the Leonard Cheshire Disability Global Alliance, and the Kumasi Children's Home.

It follows feeding of 8,000 (6,000 in Greater Accra and 2,000 in Kumasi) head-porters, popularly known as Kayayei, during the lockdown in April, this year.
Project
The private sector fund is also constructing a 100-bed capacity COVID 19 Treatment Centre in the Greater Accra region.
Cheshire Home
The Kumasi Cheshire Home is a non-profit making and non-government organisation established by Catholic Archbishop, Emeritus Dr Peter Kwasi Sarpong of the Kumasi Archdiocese with the support from some concerned citizens and other churches' leaders in 1986.

It was established to rehabilitate and reintegrate psychiatric patients between the ages of 18 and 55 years old, back into their communities.
Children's Home
It was established to take care of children who may have been abandoned by their parents as a result of social issues including imprisonment and total neglect.
It offers formal academic and religious training up to the university level to make inmates relevant to society.
Presentation
The Manager in charge of the Northern Zone for Ecobank, Mr Ibraham Adu Kwarteng, said the donation estimated at hundreds of Ghana cedis, was a contribution by all members of the private sector to assist the government to fight the virus.
He said the Fund would identify a number of vulnerable groups and individuals to help them bounce back to their normal life and businesses.
The Administrator for Cheshire Home, Mr Owusu Adjei, who spoke on behalf of the two institutions, expressed appreciation, urging the public to help in that regard.
