Access Bank Ghana has reaffirmed its commitment to ethical finance and financial innovation through participation in a high-level executive study tour on Non-Interest Banking, Capital Markets and Takaful (Insurance) in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
The five-day international programme, organised by the Islamic Finance Research Institute of Ghana in collaboration with the Centre for Islamic Economics at the International Islamic University Malaysia, brought together regulators and financial sector leaders to study Malaysia's globally recognised ethical finance ecosystem.
Access Bank Ghana was represented by Tawfiq Moomen, Head of Mobile Money and Fintech Partnerships; Eugene Dadzie, Team Lead, IT and E-Business Compliance; and Nadra Ndarya Baba, Team Member, Financial Control. The delegation joined officials from the Bank of Ghana, the Securities and Exchange Commission and the National Insurance Commission, reflecting the collaborative national effort to strengthen Ghana's financial sector capabilities.
Speaking on the significance of the programme, Tawfiq Moomen, Head of Mobile Money and Fintech Partnerships and the Lead of Access Bank Ghana's Non-Interest Banking Committee, said: "Ethical finance represents one of the most exciting opportunities for the future of banking in Ghana. Malaysia is widely regarded as one of the world's leading centres for ethical and non-interest finance, having developed a robust dual-banking system supported by strong regulation, deep capital markets and well-established governance structures over the past four decades.
The programme, the first of its kind, is being held under the theme: 'Strengthening Capacity in Ethical Finance, Financial Inclusion and Sustainable Economic Development' . As Ghana prepares to deepen the integration of Non-Interest Banking into its financial landscape, the training marks a significant milestone in the country's pursuit of a more inclusive, ethical and sustainable financial system.
