The quartet of Ivan Snowden, Abeku Jackson, Nubia Adjei and Unilez Takyi, swimming out of lane one of heat 3 in that order, pushed hard but just fell short in a tough field that included hosts Scotland and heavyweights like Australia, Canada, England and South Africa.
Ghana finished 15th overall of all 18 countries that took part in three heats of the 4×100 mixed relay, and missed out on a place in the final.
Earlier in the day, Commonwealth Games debutant Ivan Snowden recorded a time of 24.66s in heat 5 of the 50m freestyle, with the 20 year old also failing to advance after placing 48th out of 68 starters in the heats.
The Ghanaian quartet all have individual competitions still to come as well as the mixed medley featuring all four on July 28, as the nation continues to chase that elusive medal in swimming at the 23rd Commonwealth Games.
