Awukugua gets community gym
The Dignified Legends Keep Fit clubs in Ghana and Maryland USA have set up a gym for Awukugwa in the Eastern Region in response to an appeal by the chiefs and people of the area for a keep fit club to support their efforts to promote sports in the community.
The items presented included treadmills.

Presenting the items on behalf of the club, the Founder, Mr Emmanuel Obuobi, said the setting up of the gym would also create an income generating activity and serve as a means of employment to some members of the community.
Promote fitness
“This is not just to support the efforts to form a keep fit club to promote fitness and healthy living among members of the community but also to help generate income to support activities of the community.
“Members from the neighbouring communities can come to use the facility which will support the efforts to generate income,” Mr Obuobi, who is a native of Awukugwa, said.
The Chief of Akyem Anweaso, who is a patron of the club, Nana Antwi Pinamang Darkwa II, stressed the importance of a healthy and fit community and encouraged members of the community to patronise the facility.
Gym not only for youth
“Many people think the gym is only for the youth but I will encourage everyone to make use of the facility to keep fit because exercising with good guidance helps promote good health and keeps some diseases away.
We should not only leave it for the youth of the community,” Nana Darkwa II advised.
The Queen mother of Awukugwa, Awo Ansah Lartebea, who received the items on behalf of the chiefs and people, expressed appreciation for the gesture and also commended the keep fit club for its prompt response to their request.
