Graphic Business/Stanbic Bank Breakfast Meeting discusses cyber fraud on Tuesday

The growing menace of financial fraud will be in focus at the second quarter edition of the Graphic Business/Stanbic Bank Breakfast Meeting at the Labadi Beach Hotel in Accra on Tuesday.

The meeting, to be held on the theme: “Shine Your Eyes: Combating Financial Fraud in Ghana through Collaboration and Innovation,” is expected to attract personalities from academia, civil society organisations (CSOs), experts from the Office of the Special Prosecutor, the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), Stanbic Bank, Ghana Police Service, Cyber Security Authority, and other key institutions.

The event serves as a critical platform for public-private sector dialogue and is designed to examine the sophisticated tactics used by fraudsters across Ghana’s digital and traditional financial landscapes.

The theme, backed by a striking "STOP FRAUD" visual, underscores the urgent need to protect the financial integrity of the nation.

Concrete strategies

A statement released by the organisers said the session will go beyond mere awareness creation to focus on concrete strategies.

Discussions will centre on leveraging innovation, including financial technology and advanced intelligence systems, to detect and pre-empt fraudulent activities.

Furthermore, the breakfast meeting aims to deepen collaboration between regulatory bodies, law enforcement agencies, and the private sector to build a seamless defence against financial crime.

The series, which runs on a quarterly basis, has become a vital think-tank for Ghana's financial ecosystem.

Fraud syndicates

With fraud syndicates increasingly exploiting digital channels, this session will seek to explore how multi-agency cooperation can protect citizens, businesses, and the broader economy.

The event will be broadcast live via the official Facebook pages of Stanbic Bank Ghana and Daily Graphic Ghana.

This is to ensure that the "Shine Your Eyes" campaign reaches a wider audience, including entrepreneurs, professionals, and everyday consumers.

As financial fraud continues to evolve, this gathering underscores a unified resolve rooted in shared intelligence and collective responsibility to dismantle the networks threatening Ghana's economic progress.
