Ghana has not recorded any Ebola virus disease case, contrary to a news report by the South African Broadcasting Corporation, SABC News, that Ghana has recorded a case.
Responding to the report by the South African broadcaster, the Ministry of Health in Ghana a statement indicated "the figures being circulated are false, misleading, and should be disregarded."
Meanwhile, SABC News, which put out the report on Monday, has since apologised, explaining that it was an "error" that it "incorrectly attributed Ebola statistics to Ghana."

In the Ministry of Health in Ghana's press statement issued Tuesday (July 21, 2026), the ministry explained that the sector minister recently visited points of entry, laboratories, and treatment facilities as part of Ghana's routine preparedness efforts to strengthen the country's readiness to prevent and respond to any potential public health emergency.
It said these proactive measures do not indicate an Ebola outbreak in Ghana.
The Ministry urged the public to rely only on official information from the Ministry of Health and the Ghana Health Service and to avoid sharing unverified reports that may cause unnecessary fear and panic.
