The Head Coach of Karela United, Nurudeen Amadu, has revealed plans to reinforce his squad ahead of the new Premier League season, with the club expected to strengthen its defence, midfield and attack.
The experienced tactician said he had identified key areas that require improvement after assessing his team's performance last season and believes adding quality players would make Karela United more competitive in the upcoming campaign.
Speaking in an interview with Graphic Sports yesterday, Amadu disclosed that he intended to recruit one or two key players, particularly a centre-back, a midfielder and an attacker, to address the team's shortcomings.
Beyond immediate reinforcements, the coach said the club's recruitment strategy would also focus on signing young and talented players who could be nurtured into future stars and form the backbone of the team in the years ahead.
Currently on holiday, Amadu said he would present his transfer plans to the club's management when he returned for pre-season training, expressing confidence that the proposed additions would strengthen the squad.
Although Karela United finished ninth in the Premier League last season, Amadu admitted that the outcome fell short of his expectations.
However, he acknowledged that the team's performance represented progress after battling relegation in previous campaigns.
The coach said the club would not be complacent with last season's improvement, insisting that hard work and the right additions to the squad could help transform Karela United into genuine title contenders.
"I'm not satisfied with our performance last season, but considering that we struggled with relegation in previous years, I would say it was an improvement. However, there is still room for improvement," Amadu said.
He expressed optimism that with better preparation, strategic recruitment and continued commitment from the players, Karela United would be in a stronger position to challenge for honours when the new season begins.
