Tension between GFA and Ministry of Sports, ‘Ato Ahwoi must intervene’

A football enthusiast and a member of the Ghana Football Association (GFA),  Mohammed Alhassan, is disturbed by the raging tension between the GFA and the Ministry of Youth and Sports and is urging well-meaning and respected football followers to intervene.

Alhassan has, therefore, called on former board chairman of Accra Hearts of Oak to intervene to settle the differences between the Minister of Youth and Sports, Nii Lante Vanderpuye, and the President of the GFA, Kwesi Nyantakyi.

He explained that  Mr Ahwoi, himself an accomplished football administrator under whose tenure the Phobians achieved remarkable national and continental honours, was respected by the principal characters at both the FA and the Sports Ministry.

“For me Ahwoi enjoys a lots of respect among the football circles and was instrumental in the clinching of the headline sponsorship of the Black Stars by the GNPC.

His intervention would be key to easing the tension between the two in the interest of Ghana football”, he argued.

Alhassan, who is also a member of the MTN FA Cup Committee of the GFA, is worried that if steps are not taken to end the feud, Ghana’s 2018 World Cup campaign could be affected.

“We are at the crossroads and if care is not taken, Ghana will miss the next World Cup,” he stated.
