One dead after car crashes into stationary truck at Ako Adjei Interchange in Accra

One person died in Accra on Wednesday morning in a road traffic accident after a KIA Rhino Truck collided with a saloon vehicle [Zedrive] at the Ako Adjei Interchange in Accra.

The Ghana National Fire Service received a distress call at 1:16 am in the early hours of Wednesday, June 17.

A rescue crew from the GNFS Headquarters, led by ADO I Yussif Yakubu, arrived at the scene within six minutes to find the driver of the saloon car trapped and unresponsive.

A medical team assessed the victim and confirmed his death at the scene.

Firefighters carried out an extrication operation, employing door and steering wheel removal techniques to retrieve the body from the wreckage. The operation was completed at 2:14 am.

Preliminary information suggests the saloon car collided with the rear of a faulty stationary truck. Investigations are ongoing to establish the exact cause.
