The 40th edition of the SWAG awards, scheduled to take place tomorrow at the Banquet Hall, seeks to honour distinguished sportsmen and women in Ghana in the various disciplines.

The nominees include athletes, referees and sports administrators who distinguished themselves in the 2014 sporting calendar.

Cudjoe told the GNA Sports. ‘‘I’m excited and happy to be nominated as the best female footballer of the year.

“Even though I put up an excellent performance last year for my club and country, the nomination came as a surprise to me.”

The 21-year-old, who won the 2015 All Star award for her outstanding performance in the United States Women’s Professional Semi League (WPSL) with California Storms, has tasked herself to work much harder,  saying: ‘‘I have so much to give myself and any club I join when I turn a professional”.

"And this award will motivate me to train and work harder and it will be one of the fondest memories in my life,” she noted.

The California Storms midfielder expressed gratitude to the management and playing body of her former club Hasaacas Ladies, her family and friends for their unflinching support, and to SWAG for the recognition. —GNA
