Two incumbent RFA chairmen disqualified

TWO incumbent Regional Football Association (RFA) Chairmen, Kojo Yankah (Western) and Salifu Shaibu Zida (Upper East), have been handed a lifeline in the upcoming RFA elections following the disqualification of their challengers by the Appeals Committee yesterday.

Their challengers, Anthony Osei and Mr Gambila Dagbila Boison were disqualified yesterday after being found not to have fulfilled the requirements for filing nomination for the elections which also see the winners serving on the Ghana Football Association’s Executive Committee.

According to the Appeals Committee, Dagbila Boison’s, nomination  by Mighty Rocks FC was invalid as the others who endorsed his nomination later withdrew their endorsement and thus could not fulfil Article 6 (3,8) of the regulations on elections.

Mr Osei was disqualified on grounds that his nomination was supported by Little Barcelona who had already supported another contestant, Alhaji Fuseini Mahama and so that endorsement could not hold.

With the Appeals Committee ruling, the two incumbents join three other chairmen — Osei Tutu Agyeman (Ashanti), Abdul Lawal Ganiyu (Eastern) and Alhaji Dauda Sadugu Yahaya (Upper West) — who are running unopposed but will need the simple majority endorsement from their delegates to be confirmed winners.
