Muslim man stages one-man demo against LGBTQ Bill

In a surprising twist to the ongoing debate surrounding the controversial LGBTQ+ bill, a heterosexual Muslim man has undertaken a one-man demonstration against the Human Sexual Rights and Family Values Bill, 2021.

Texas Kadiri Moro, a teacher and father of six, last Thursday undertook a one-man demonstration against the bill, which seeks to criminalize members of the LGBTQ+ community and their supporters.

His unique perspective as a practicing Muslim and heterosexual man has garnered attention from the international press.

"Homosexuality does not affect anyone," Moro told The Associated Press. "We have activities that people are doing in the country that are worse than homosexual activities," he said, citing adultery as an example. “I know I'm doing something that God is asking me to do,” he said.

He claims that since he began his protests, he has lost his job, has not received any assistance from the LGBTQ+ community, and has become a target of “very hostile attacks from the Muslim community".

Moro highlighted the hypocrisy of the bill by submitting a petition to Parliament, urging the government to withdraw its foreign missions from countries where homosexuality is legal if they deem it "filthy," he said.

Moro's petition was received on behalf of the Speaker of Parliament at the entrance to Parliament House by Kate Addo, Parliament's director of communications.

The bill, which has been passed by parliament but is currently under review by the Supreme Court, has sparked widespread condemnation from rights groups and international organizations.

Supporters of the bill argue that it is necessary to protect children and victims of abuse, but critics contend that it is discriminatory and violates fundamental human rights.
