Presbyter, 82, builds chapel for EP Church at Mafi-Tsati

A Retired nurse, Felicia Adzo Logo, has built and donated a 500-capacity chapel for the Akorfafa Congregation of the Evangelical Presbyterian Church, Ghana (EPCG), at Mafi-Tsati in the Central Tongu District of the Volta Region.

The 82-year-old woman, a presbyter of the church, and an entrepreneur, said the gesture was to relieve the members of the congregation of the inconvenience of travelling for about four miles to Mafi-Kumase to worship, a situation which compelled some of the worshippers to leave for other churches.

Madam Logo said she made a vow to God to put up a place of worship in the community in the 1950s.

She said she was greatly inspired by the gesture of her business partner, a non-Christian, who constructed a chapel for the EPCG at Adutor.

The project started in 2019 with support from her children, Mark and Selase, and the newly completed chapel was dedicated on Sunday, December 1, amid pomp and celebration.

Leap of faith

The Moderator of the General Assembly of the EPCG, Rt Rev. Dr Lt Col. Bliss Agbeko (retd), said at the dedication service that the gesture by Madam Logo was a giant leap of faith.

He said the presbyter’s commitment to serving her church and God was outstanding, and she had performed her role as presbyter with dignity, integrity and dedication.

“Presbyter Felicia Logo’s unwavering support for the ministry, selfless service to the community, generosity and kindness, have touched many lives, while her vision for spreading the gospel has inspired many,” Rt Rev. Dr Agbeko added.

He said the chapel built by Madam Logo testified to her faith-driven initiative.

“Her journey was a clear demonstration of the transformative power and impact of faith on individuals’ lives, families and communities,” the Moderator said.

He said the gesture by the presbyter also testified to the ripple effects of selfless giving and service, and the enduring power of generosity and dedication.

Rt Rev. Dr Agbeko entreated the congregation to be inspired by the story of Madam Logo’s faith and perseverance to stir their hearts to consider how they could also make a difference in their families, community and beyond.
