Northern Region police begin investigations into missing 400 tricycles

The Northern Regional Police Command has begun investigations into the case of 400 missing tricycles which were parked on the premises of the Northern Development Authority (NDA) office in Tamale.

The spokesperson for the Command, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), Mr Yusif Tanko, who disclosed this in an interview with the Daily Graphic in the Northern Regional capital, Tamale, said the investigations were to unravel who came for the tricycles and their whereabouts.
Report
He said the former Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the NDA, Dr Majeeb Haroun, notified the police in the early part of last year that about 400 tricycles had gone missing from the premises of the authority in Tamale.
DSP Tanko said the police wrote a letter in response to the complaint to the then CEO to release five persons from his outfit to assist the police in their investigations.
He said the letter was received on December 12, 2019 and it was at the same time that Dr Haroun was relieved of his post as CEO of the authority.
DSP Tanko added that the new CEO of the NDA, Dr Alhassan Sulemana Anamzoya, had decided to cooperate with the police in its investigations into the missing tricycles by releasing the five persons being sought out by the police to assist them in their investigations.
Background
The NDA was set up by the ruling New Patriotic Party Government (NPP) government under President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to replace the Savannah Accelerated Development Authority (SADA), established under the National Democratic Congress (NDC) government, and led by former President John Evans Atta Mills.
NDA was also part of the campaign promise of the NPP government as a vehicle for the development of northern part of the country.
