The Volta Regional Minister, James Gunu, has called on businesses to invest in conference and social events facilities in the region, saying there are highly bright prospects for such ventures in the area.
The minister said Ho, in particular, and other parts of the Volta Region have been hosting important and grand conferences, as well as various official and social activities in recent times.
“These days the hotels get fully booked, and the demand for such facilities is soaring by the day,” the regional minister affirmed.
Mr Gunu was closing the 2025 Accountants’ Conference in Ho on Wednesday.
The event, on the theme: “Building Strong and Sustainable Economies: Standards, Integrity, and Accountability”, was attended by about 2,500 members of the Institute of Chartered Accountants, Ghana (ICAG), and partners from other African countries.

He said the Volta Region was set for serious business and would collaborate with the private sector to raise the region to splendid development heights.
The regional minister, therefore, appealed to ICAG to support the region in various ways to implement that plan.
Mr Gunu said the ICAG was a powerful force in all development matters, and the Volta Regional Coordinating Council (VRCC) would continue to recognise and relate with it as such.
“When we talk about the fight against corruption, we need accountants; when it comes to the resetting of Ghana, we need accountants, and when it comes to the implementation of the sustainable 24- Hour Economy initiative, we need accountants,” he added.
The regional minister said other investment areas with very high prospects for returns in the region included tourism, agriculture and agro-processing.
The President of ICAG, Augustine Addo, said Ho, also known as the Oxygen City, was definitely an ideal ground for serious business, and ICAG would return to the regional capital for other activities.
