CODA commends Graphic

The Coastal Development Authority (CODA) has commended the Graphic Communications Group Limited (GCGL) for disseminating accurate and timely information on the COVID-19 pandemic and maintaining standards during the period.

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of CODA, Mr Jerry Ahmed Shaib, said the GCGL played an invaluable role in educating the public and creating awareness of the COVID-19 pandemic.

He said this yesterday when he led a team from the authority to donate 500 nose masks and 100 pieces of hand sanitisers to the Graphic stable to support staff of the company protect themselves against the disease.

Good work done

Mr Shaib lauded the company for a good job in its reportage on COVID-19, saying Graphic deserved every support for sustaining production even in the face of the danger.

“We want to appreciate the good work you are doing for the country in these times, and we believe that people who help in pushing this campaign are the people who matter to us most, so we decided to donate these items to support you,” he
said.

He expressed the desire of CODA to partner GCGL to intensify education on the adherence to the precautionary measures issued by the health experts to stop the spread of the disease.

“We are focusing on encouraging and providing persons such as commercial drivers, market women, food vendors and persons with disability with face masks,” he said.

Stop stigmatisation

The Editor of the Daily Graphic, Mr Kobby Asmah, thanked the team for their gesture and for recognising the role of the company in disseminating information during the crises.

“We consider our work as our duty; so giving out accurate information is important to help the country work towards coming out of the COVID-19 crisis,” he said.

He called on the public to stop stigmatising persons who had recovered from COVID-19, but rather welcome and integrate them into the society.

He also called on the public to adhere to precautionary measures to stop the spread of the disease and help the country return to normalcy.

Mr Asmah noted that although COVID-19 had slowed things down, the company would begin to roll out activities to celebrate its 70th anniversary in the coming weeks.

The Director of Marketing, Mr Franklin Sowa, said despite the negative effect of the disease, the company would continue to enhance its digital platform to reach a wider audience.
