The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) is to replace Ghanaian passports lost or damaged in Monday’s devastating floods at no delay, as part of emergency relief for affected persons.
In a press release issued on Friday, July 3, 2026, the Ministry urged persons affected to contact it from Friday, July 3 to Friday, July 17, 2026, for assistance in securing a new travel document.
It also urged callers to provide their “name, date of birth, and gender as contained in the lost or damaged passport, as well as a phone number for easy access”.
“The Ministry intends to replace all lost and damaged passports within a week,” the statement added.
Assurance
It assured that it “remains committed to playing its role in supporting government’s efforts” during the difficult period.
The MFA extended “deepest sympathies” to all victims of the floods and expressed “strong solidarity” with affected compatriots across the country.
It said it was aware that many Ghanaians may have either lost their passports or had them damaged due to the floods that caused loss of lives and destruction of property.
“Consequently, the Ministry has decided to implement an expedited replacement of lost and damaged Ghanaian passports as a result of the floods,” it stated.
