The items, including bathing and washing soap, toilet rolls, detergents, an LED television, toys, bedsheets and pillows, diapers, bleach, satellite antenna, syringes, weighing scales, thermometers, towels and gloves were donated to the hospital as part of the National Good Women Ministry’s convention held at the Akosa Park at Bantama in Kumasi.

The four-day Convention on the theme: “Your Daughters Shall Prophesy,” was attended by hundreds of women from all over the country as part of activities marking the centenary celebration of the CACI.

Activities lined up for the year-long centenary celebration, which is on the theme: “100 Years of Impacting the World through Pentecostalism,” include lectures, health screening, quiz competitions, donations and radio and TV discussions to be climaxed with a thanksgiving service in November, this year.

Hundred years existence

Mrs Ernestina Afrani, National President of the Women’s Ministry, who made the presentation, said she was happy that God had blessed the church in its 100 years of existence and, therefore, the women decided to make the donation to the needy as a form of its social responsibility.

“The church has been blessed and the women who form the greater part of the membership felt we should share the joy by extending a hand to the patients of the hospital who have become our neighbours as we worship in Kumasi.”

Dr K. Opoku, the Co-ordinator of the Medical staff at the hospital, who received the donation, thanked the ministry for the gesture.

He said the items, which covered all the areas of the hospital’s need, had brought great relief to the staff and patients of the hospital which sometimes found it difficult to provide the needed services, especially to needy patients who could not afford the total cost of treatment.

Dr Opoku appealed to other institutions to also assist run the facility better.
Present at the ceremony were Apostle Dr E. O. Donkor, General Secretary of the church, as well as Apostle Michael Nimo, a former Chairman who prayed for both staff and patients of the hospital. — GNA
