The growing popularity of second-hand and rental wigs among women seeking affordable alternatives to buying new ones could expose users to scalp infections if the wigs are not properly cleaned and disinfected, a dermatologist, Dr Franklin Osei-Wusu, has cautioned.

According to the dermatologist, who works with Eden Clinic at Adenta, wearing a wig previously used by another person without proper hygiene could facilitate the spread of fungal infections, lice and other scalp conditions.

Dr Osei-Wusu, who spoke to The Mirror last Thursday, said the concern was not with second-hand or rental wigs themselves, but with how they were handled between users.

A 35-year-old mason has been sentenced to 35 years’ imprisonment for repeatedly defiling his two daughters at Oyibi in Accra.

Charles Seddoh was sentenced by the Circuit Court, housed at the Domestic Violence and Victims Support Unit (DOVVSU) of the Police Headquarters, after he was found guilty on five counts of defilement and incest.

Meta said Wednesday it has agreed to an about $18 billion settlement to resolve claims brought by 29 state attorneys general that it intentionally designed addictive platforms that harmed young people’s mental health.

Doctors in Sri Lanka have removed a 3.1kg (6.8lb) bladder stone from a man - which they believe to be the largest of its kind on record.

The procedure was carried out last week at a hospital in Trincomalee, in the east of the country.
