The writer cum producer, Abdul Muslim better known as Chief Moomen in a chat with Showbiz on Sunday said the reason to stage it on Legon campus is to give students the opportunity to have a feel of the historical play.

"When we staged it last year at the National Theatre, the response was very good so we decided to take the play to the various campuses too as well for students to watch it and know more about our history," he said.

"We intend embarking on a campus tour after staging it at Legon so students on other campuses should watch out for the 'Wogbɛ Jɛ kɛ:' team," he added.

'Wogbɛ Jɛ kɛ: The Birth of A Nation' is a two-hour theatrical spectacle of music, dance and drama that reenacts the history of Ghana from ancient times to 1957; featuring the conquest of Ndewura Jakpa, the treachery of Agorkoli, the pride of Yaa Asantewaa, the dreams of Nkrumah, et cetera.

It is directed by BBC award winning playwright cum thespian, Joyce Anima Misa Amoah.

The play is choreographed by international dance acts, Sena Atsuga and Baffour Awuah of 'Choreomundus International' in Norway and ably supported by a technical team of professionals from the School of Performing Arts, University of Ghana, Legon.
