The Ashanti North Regional Police Command has launched an investigation into a viral video showing a policewoman in a confrontation with a complainant at the Akomadan Afrancho Police Station.
A statement issued by the command on July 5, 2026, and signed by ASP Emmanuel Agbodzi, Staff Officer and Acting Public Relations Officer, said the officer involved had been identified.
It said the incident occurred on July 3, 2026, and that investigations had begun to establish the full facts and circumstances surrounding the matter.
The command said appropriate action would be taken after the investigation and that the public would be updated on the outcome.
The statement added that the Ghana Police Service would continue to uphold professionalism, discipline and accountability.
The video, which has been widely shared on social media, appears to show an exchange between the officer and a man who says he had gone to the station to lodge a complaint.
In the footage, the man says he felt his case was being treated as unimportant, while the officer objects to being filmed. The video also appears to show the officer kicking the phone from the man's hand and reaching for an object on the ground before the confrontation is interrupted.
