Standard Chartered launches ‘Road to Anfield’

Standard Chartered Bank Ghana has launched an international football tournament dubbed “Standard Chartered Trophy-Road to Anfield” which offers winners the golden opportunity to play at Anfield, the hallowed grounds of English Premier League side Liverpool.

A total of 32 teams, which would include staff of the bank, corporate bodies, clients and the media will battle on February 28 at the Lizzy Sports Complex in Accra after which the winner will be joined by the Gambian and Nigerian champions on March 14 at the same venue to decide the team to represent West Africa at Anfield.

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the bank, Mr Kweku Bedu-Addo said: “It  was the first time Ghana had won the right to stage it and I was, therefore, very excited to host this fun-filled interactive sporting event for the bank’s stakeholders”.

The deadline for registration for the competition is February 20 for customer teams and February 13 for client or corporate teams.
