Firefighters rescue trapped victim after STC bus, Kia Picanto taxi collide at Konongo Akrantiebesa

Firefighters from the Konongo-Odumasi Fire Station rescued a trapped victim following a collision between an STC bus and a Kia Picanto taxicab at Konongo Akrantiebesa near the Next Bon Gas Filling Station on Thursday night (June 4, 2026).

According to the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS), the accident left both vehicles badly damaged, with the taxi's engine compartment completely destroyed.

Three injured persons were rescued by bystanders and rushed to Steward Hospital before firefighters arrived.

The crew successfully extricated a fourth victim who was trapped in the taxi and ensured he received medical attention at the Asante Akyem Central Hospital.

A total of four people sustained injuries in the crash, but no fatalities were recorded. The cause of the accident is under investigation.
