Golf: Tanzanian Madina Iddy Clinches Victory at 9th Ghana Amateur Ladies Open
Tanzanian golfer Madina Iddy displayed remarkable skill and composure as she shot a course-par 71 on the final day to win the 9th Ghana Amateur Ladies Open.

The tournament organised by Ghana Golf Association was held at the Celebrity Golf Club in Sakumono from July 14-16 2022.
With a total score of 224, Iddy claimed the championship title after recording rounds of 77 and 76 on the first and second days of the tournament, respectively.
Iddy faced fierce competition on the Scratch Ladies leader board, with Bernice Esi Dzitowoko finishing as the runner-up with a total score of 242. Ayne Magomba, another talented golfer from Tanzania, secured third place with a score of 245.
Expressing her joy and satisfaction to the Daily Graphic after being presented with the championship trophy and prizes, Iddy said she was delighted at emerging as the champion and mentioned her thorough preparation leading up to the tournament.
Iddy also emphasized the significance of earning more points for the World Amateur Championships, for which she has already qualified. While the course posed some initial challenges, Iddy quickly found her rhythm and witnessed her scores improving steadily as the tournament progressed.
In other categories, Ivorian golfer Samira Kangoute emerged as the winner in the Ladies Handicap division, played in stableford format and accumulating an impressive 77 points. Pamela Ewoenam secured second place with 72 points, closely followed by Georgina Andoh with 71 points and Li Ping Wang with 70 points.
Sheryl Afia Afari demonstrated her talent in the Handicap Future Prospects category, designed for golfers with a handicap index of 28 and above, securing victory with an impressive total of 220 points. Genevieve Essilfie and Belinda Oppong finished in second and third place, respectively.
Mona Myers Lamptey further solidified her reputation by winning the seniors category, adding another trophy to her already illustrious cabinet. In the men's division, Duncan Walekhwa Sambu emerged as the champion, showcasing exceptional skills and determination. Additionally, Livia Hawah Brito and Sophie Agbo claimed victory in the Longest Drive and Closest to the Pin titles, respectively.
