Ashgold form new 5-man management

The president of Ashantigold SC, Dr Kwaku Frimpong, has appointed a new five-man management team headed by his son, Mr Emmanuel Frimpong, to steer the affairs of the club.

This was in the wake of the sudden resignation of the club’s CEO, Mr Frederick Acheampong, last week.

The 24-year-old Mr Frimpong and his team take over from Mr Acheampong, whose resignation took effect from April 30, 2020.

Other members of the new management are Mr Roy Arthur, former CEO of B.A. United, as the Sporting Director, Mr Daniel Bioh, Communications Director/Secretary, Mr Gibrine Musa (Operations Director) and Mr Seth Boakye Agyemang as the Administrative Manager.

The new appointment will come as a surprise to many, following the recent decision by Dr Frimpong, aka Champion, never to return to the club after quitting in February.

Dr Frimpong, who is the main financier of Ashgold, resigned unceremoniously after an altercation with Ashgold supporters in Obuasi.

And in a recent interview with the Daily Graphic, he vowed never to rescind his decision as he looked forward to hand over the club to any interested investor.

Out of the blue, the CEO resigned, citing personal reasons for his action.

However, speculations indicate that Mr Acheampong, who is an Executive Council member of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), parted ways with the club due to a misunderstanding with the president of the club.
