President begins three-day tour of Eastern Region

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo is scheduled to touch base with home, the Eastern Region from Saturday, October 12 to Monday, October 15, 2019.

The President will among other things interact with students of the Koforidua Secondary Technical School and those at the Nkawkaw Senior High School.

During his three-day visit, he is also expected to inspect ongoing road projects including the 10-km Nkawkaw Town Roads, the 41.4 km Kwabeng- Abomosu-Asuom Road and the 24.8km Osiem-Begoro Town Roads.

The Eastern Regional Director of Communications of the NPP, Mr David Prah, who briefed the Daily Graphic on the President’s visit, said the region had made extensive preparation to receive the President and his entourage.

He said the regional executive members have had series of discussions with constituency executive members towards preparations for the visit.

Saturday

Mr Prah said the President, who would be coming from Kumasi, would be met at Nkawkaw on Saturday.

He stated that the President, as part of his commitment to the government flagship programme, the Free Senior High School, would interact with students of the Nkawkaw SHS and other senior high schools in the region to know at first hand some of the challenges on the ground in the implementation of the Free SHS policy.

After that interaction, the President would also inspect ongoing projects in the school including school blocks, laboratories, libraries among others.

As part of the visit, Mr Prah said President Akufo-Addo would also visit a One district, One factory Starch Processing Factory at Begoro.

Sunday

On Sunday, President Akufo-Addo will worship with the Roman Catholic Church in Koforidua where he would be expected to speak on some development issues.

According to Mr Prah, the President would also visit the Great Consolidated Diamond Company at Akwatia to assess the work of the interim management team which was established after abrogating the government’s contract with the Jospong Group.

Monday

A durbar of teachers and pupils, according to Mr Prah, would be held on Monday at the Koforidua Secondary Technical School on Monday during which the President will interact with teachers and students on issues affecting the school.

Thereafter, the President will inspect the Koforidua Sports Complex which has among others a football pitch, gymnasium, boxing gym, volleyball courts and a restaurant.
