Akyem Manso educated on govt programmes

The Asene-Manso-Akroso District Assembly in the Eastern Region has organised a town hall meeting at Akyem Manso to educate the people on the government’s policies and programmes as well as the achievements and aspirations of the assembly.

The DCE, Mr Alex Incoom, said as a measure of improving sanitation, the assembly had reached an agreement with Zoomlion Ghana Limited to convert waste products into productive use.

He, therefore, advised the people not to dump rubbish indiscriminately but deposit it into the sanitary bins being distributed to them for the assembly to cart it to the processing site.

2,000 people engaged in government’s flagship programme

Mr Incoom said more than 2,000 people in the district were currently engaged in planting for food and jobs and planting for export ventures which had not only helped them economically but also boosted food production in the area.

He said approval had been given for the construction of a modern market at Akyem Akroso to increase the assembly’s revenue generation.

According to the DCE, work was progressing steadily on the construction of male and female wards for the Akyem Akroso Health Centre to replace the single ward being used by both male and female in-patients, as well as the construction of a boys’ dormitory block for the Akroso Senior High School.

The MP, Mr Aboagye, said contracts would soon be awarded for the tarring of the Manso and Akroso town roads.

He said 32 communities in the district had been connected to the national grid since the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government took over the reins of government in January, 2017.

Mr Aboagye said the girls’ dormitory block being constructed by the Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFund) for the Atweaman SHS at Manso was nearing completion.

He advised the people to attach special attention to communal labour to speed up the progress of development projects being undertaken in their communities.

Other speakers

The Oda Municipal Police Commander, Superintendent Nana Kumi, gave an assurance that the police administration was taking realistic measures to establish a district police headquarters at Manso.

The Mansohene, Obrempong Sintim Poku, said the development agenda of President Nana Akufo-Addo was unprecedented in the history of Ghana and urged the people to give him and his government their maximum support in order to benefit from more development projects.
