Reservoir that claimed life of kindergarten pupil sealed off
Two days after Master Robert Okoh Thompson, a kindergarten pupil of the Kitson Mills Primary School at Korle Gonno, near Korle Bu in the Greater Accra Region, drowned in an uncovered underground water reservoir, it has been sealed off.
The Assemblyman for the Korle Gonno Electoral Area, Mr Ransford Quaye, and the Manager of the nearby Valley Beach, Paa Nii, came together last Thursday to erect a wooden structure to cordon off the site.

As of the time of a Daily Graphic visit at 4 p.m. yesterday, a concrete slab was being moulded to cover the opening through which Master Okoh fell into the reservoir.
Residents of the area were still heavy-hearted over the tragic incident as most of them wore sullen faces during the visit.

Master Thompson fell into the uncovered reservoir which was overgrown with weeds last Tuesday while chasing butterflies with his peers during break time in his school.
His body was later retrieved from the underground water reservoir, which used to be a septic tank, by personnel of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS).
The tank, according to an official of the GNFS, is about 12 feet deep and full of water.
The family head of the deceased, Mr Prince Tagoe, in an interaction with the Daily Graphic, said the family was working closely with the police to obtain the passage to bury Master Thompson.
He said officials of the Ghana Education Service, as well as some teachers in the school had visited the family.
Mr Tagoe said Master Thompson’s grandmother, with whom he lived, could still not be consoled.
“She continually cries and screams the boy’s name since the incident happened,” he said.
