Contribute quota to nation building - Pastor Chris

World renowned preacher Reverend Dr Chris Oyakhilome has asked Ghanaians not to give up on the country but contribute their quota to the building of the nation.

While admitting that politics in Africa, including Ghana, was seen by many as dirty, he said it was the responsibility of the citizens to actively participate in it and not to leave it to a selected few to run the affairs of the country.

“Politics in Africa is dirty. I have had a lot of interactions with many politicians and ministers in Africa and they admit how difficult it is to fulfil your promises, because while you are trying your best to do so, your opponents are also doing their best to ensure that you are not able to achieve it, so they can have their turn. That is why you must be actively involved and cause the positive changes that you want to see,” he said.

Pastor Chris, as he is popularly referred to, said this while speaking at a crusade dubbed “A Night of Blessings” at the Black Star Square in Accra last Friday.

Third time in Ghana

It was his third time in Ghana and thousands of worshippers within and outside the country defied Friday’s heavy downpour and thronged the venue for the programme, in spite of the low publicity compared to his first visit.

Rev Oyakhilome was in Ghana for the first time in 2016 to hold one of the biggest gatherings in the country during which a number of roads leading to the Black Star Square were closed to motorists.

As of 5 p.m. last Friday, the Black Star Square was almost filled to capacity, with others in queues waiting to enter, see and worship with the President of the Believers’ Loveworld Incorporated, also known as Christ Embassy, a Bible-based Christian ministry.

Few among the gathering had umbrellas, leaving the majority without them to become drenched in the rain but they stood resilient and would not allow anything to disturb them from tapping into the ministry of Pastor Chris which is demonstrated through healings and teachings.

Men, women and children remained in the rains for over one hour, waiting patiently for Pastor Chris to appear on stage.
The programme was organised by the Ghana zone of the church.

Love for Ghana

Pastor Chris continuously professed his love for Ghana and the people and asked that the citizens show love for their country.

He recalled the rich history and culture of the country which had endeared many to it and applauded past leaders, especially Dr Kwame Nkrumah, Ghana’s first President, for their exemplary leadership style.

“Ghana has not seen any civil war, and is not going to see any, and carries out its elections peacefully.

“I wish you could see how much God loves this country. I love this nation, and so must you. Therefore, ensure that you are part of building this country,” he said.

Consequently, he implored the citizens to make God number one in all that they did.

He particularly expressed his appreciation to some traditional rulers who graced the occasion, saying they ought to continue to acknowledge God in their leadership.

Prayer, healings and salvation

Pastor Chris asked the worshippers to join him to pray and intercede on behalf of Ghana for God’s blessings on all the leaders of the country so they take the right decisions and make good choices for the betterment of the nation and its people.

The celebrated evangelist and healer also ministered to those suffering from all kinds of ailments and diseases and many testified that they had been healed.

Many who were on stretchers and sitting in wheelchairs during the programme rose to their feet miraculously as they were prayed for by the man of God.

As he ministered, the blind received their sight, the lame walked, the deaf heard, those with cancerous growth in their bodies and those suffering from arthritis said they were completely healed. The diabetic and hypertensive also professed healing and demons were cast out of people.

Hundreds also responded to an altar call to give their life to Jesus Christ and live peaceably with their neighbours.
