Cape Coast North MP presents items to fight COVID-19

The Member of Parliament for Cape Coast North, Mrs Barbara Asher Ayisi has presented sanitary items to various lorry stations in her constituency in support of preventive measures against COVID-19.

The items included 50 Veronica buckets and 1000 bottles of hand sanitizers, tissue papers and soap to all lorry stations in her constituency.

Mrs Asher Ayisi who is also the Deputy Minister for Works and Housing also used the opportunity to education the beneficiaries on the virus and how to prevent contracting it.

No panic

She urged constituents not take panicky decisions that would lead to the further spread of the disease.

Mrs Asher Ayisi said it was essential and the public did not allow fear to kill them even before the virus.

"Many are afraid and that may even kill us. We must observe the instructions and do the right things. Don't be afraid. We pray no one here contracts the disease but even if one contracts it it does not necessarily mean the person will die. We should not be afraid."

Don't ignore instructions

She however emphasized that it was important for all not to ignore the instructions on proper hygienic practices no matter how basic the sound to avoid contracting the virus.

She said while we acknowledge God's role in helping contain the disease all must do what was humanly possible to help reduce the spread.

She stressed the need to observe the social distancing rule and keep safe.

Disease real

She stressed that the disease was real and was killing many in other countries and urged the constituents to cooperate with health authorities as they work to contain the spread.

Observe lock down

She particularly advised those in locked down areas to strictly observe the rules without panic.

At the Abura station, the station manager, MrJohn Christ Amoah who received the items thanked the MP for the gesture and gave the assurance that the stations would do their part to help curb the spread of the disease.
