The items also included hand sanitizers, tissue papers and liquid soap.

Vulnerable and poor

Ekua observed that the public toilets received loads of people daily from many vulnerable and poor communities and it would be detrimental if such a public place was overlooked in the fight against the COVID 19.

"These are places of possible spread that can easily be overlooked", she said.

She advised patrons of the public toilets to ensure that social distancing was observed together with proper hand washing practices.

Speaking to traders at the Abura market, Ekua observed the important role of the traders to the local economies and in supporting families.

However, she said their role also placed them at a disadvantage in coming into contact with many people and going back to their families.

She also touched on the vulnerability of the drivers and urged them to practice hand washing, frequently sanitizing their hands and observing the social distancing rule.

Stringent adherence

Ekua noted that the rapid spread of the disease across the world was worrying and required strict adherence to all prescribed preventive measures to help contain the spread.

Appeal

She appealed for support for her foundation to do more education on the pandemic and urged them to join the campaign to educate their communities saying they were crucial in helping curb the spread of the pandemic.

She further advised the market women to use the items very well by washing their hands frequently under running water with soap, using the tissue towels very well and applying hand sanitizers after wiping their hands with the tissues.

Mrs Cecila Aggrey, who received the items at the Abura market thanked the Ekuban Foundation International for the gesture.

She pledged to support the education the preventive measures and precautions to prevent the spread of the virus.
