GWCL must review water spillage from Weija Dam
Exactly two weeks and two days after the publication of my letter on page 10 of April 17 2023 issue of the Daily Graphic my fears came true as the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) advised residents downstream to relocate which appeared at the back page of the May 3 issue of the Daily Graphic.
This follows the warning issued by Ghana Water Company Ltd on April 28 2023.

The issue is not just about illegal settlers.
We need to take a look at the wastage of water at the time of plenty which would very soon be followed by a condition of dryness.
In 1933 when President Franklin D. Roosevelt established the Tennessee Valley Authority in the US the people were confronted with the menace of flooding in the Tennessee Valley.
The effect was that they transformed the flooding into generation of electricity.
We can do something about our situation.
Can we channel the water into irrigation or any other useful venture if that means charging consumers a little more for that purpose?
Let’s think about it because some countries do not have this amount of water.
We are blessed and we have to make a better use of our resources.
