Delali wins Miss Ghana 2015

The usual screams and excitement that greets the announcement of a winner was missing when Antoinette Delali Kemavor was announced as Miss Ghana 2015 at the Accra International Conference Centre last Saturday.

This was probably because another contestant, Rebecca Asamoah has endeared herself to the hearts of the audience with her on-point delivery in addition to winning three awards earlier in the competition.

Many in the audience thought she was the obvious choice but she emerged second runner-up much to the disappointment of many patrons.

Delali might not have been the most impressive on the night but she walked away with the ultimate and drove home a brand new C4 Aircoss Citreon.

In addition to that she will have a one year volunteering with Exclusive Events Ghana/ Miss Ghana Foundation, one year accomodation at the Miss Ghana House, one year Platinum Gym membership at Pippas Health Centre, an opportunity to represent Ghana at the next Miss World Event.

That is  not all, she will get free computer fundamentals and Microsoft Office from IPMC for six weeks and souvenirs from sponsors such as ATL, FC Skin and Beauty Klinik, Special Ice, Forever Easy and LAWASH.

The night started with all 21 contestants doing a choreography with Sherifa Gunu after which they came back on stage in swimwear to introduce themselves.

The highlife segment saw the contestants strutting their stuff in beautiful slit and kaba made with ATL fabrics.

Their next appearance was in evening wear after which the top 10 contestants were announced but not before awards were given to deserving contestants in various categories.

The Beauty with a Purpose award went to Volta Region trio of Akorfa Awuma Daniella, Eleanor Ama Seku and Antoinette Delali Kemavor and Adwoa Konadu Somuah Boateng won Miss Eloquence. Rebecca Asamoah swept three awards - Miss Fitness, Miss Congeniality and Most Discilpined.

As was expected, the final 10 presented their speeches and answered questions from the judges and the number was pruned down to five in the persons of Afua Asiedua Akrofi, Larisa Andre, Antoinette Delali Kemavor, Louisa Tanti and Rebecca Asamoah.

All the contestants had to do at this crucial moment was to answer the same question on how they would woo a potential investor should they win the title and represent Ghana at the Miss World pageant in China.

The night was interlaced with performances by Steve Bedi, Nii Tackie Laryea (Mr World Ghana), Gyedu Blay Ambolley, Sherifa Gunu and Noella Wiyaala.

MCs were Kofi Okyere Darko (KOD) and Precious Kyei Bonsu, the latter was so ordinary for such a prestigious pageant.

Not a bad effort from the organisers, Exclusive Events Ghana except that it could have been more exciting than it was.
