Acherekoh powers KNUST tennis

An electronic engineer and Managing Director of Sambah Sopranos Company Limited, Raymond A. Acherekoh, made a name for KNUST tennis when he defeated four crack players to win the maiden Golden Tulip/Trade Fair Ghana tennis tournament in Kumasi.

After easily disposing off Victor Asamoah of the Golden Tulip club 6-0, fellow teammate John Asamani 6-1, and Jako Appiah of the Ashanti Club 6-3,  Acherekoh had to dig deep into his reserves to overpower Nana Yaw Nyamaah of the Ashanti Club and Manager, First Atlantic Bank, Nhyiaeso Branch, 6-3 to lift the trophy. 

KNUST made it double as Ann Silasi won the third position.

The annual corporate tennis competition, dubbed:‘The Health Fair’, is an addition to three other competitions organised by Golden Tulip, Kumasi City. It attracted 50 players. 

The General Manager of Golden Tulip Kumasi City, Mr Sam Aduama, who presented the trophy to Acherekoh congratulated him on his hard work and urged him to be consistent in the other tournaments.

The other two tournaments lined up by by DealExpress" href="#">the hotel are the ‘Beer Festival’ in May and ‘Institutional Tournament’ in November.

Following the success of the maiden competition, the Event Sales Executive of Golden Tulip, Kumasi City, Kingsley Agyepong, urged more employees to register for the next two tournaments.

The president of the historic-making KNUST Tennis Club, Dr Kwasi Ampong,  a Senior Lecturer at the Physics Department of the University, called for regular competitions among various tennis clubs in the city and congratulated club members, Raymond and Rasta, on an excellent showing.

There was a special felicitation message from the Rector of the Kumasi Polytechnic, Dr Lord E. Asamoah, who advised the youth not to see time spent on sporting activities as a waste but investment whose dividends would manifest later in life.
