Official: Andre Ayew joins Fenerbahçe on loan

Deputy captain of the Black Stars Andre Ayew will sign for Turkish club Fenerbahçe on a season-long loan deal according to a written statement from the club.

According to a statement issued yesterday by Fenerbahçe, it has reached an agreement with the Welsh club Swansea City AFC to sign Ayew on a one year loan.

"Ayew will come to Istanbul tomorrow (July 26) and after a medical examination he will sign the official contract," the statement added.

Ayew resigned for then relegation-threatened Swansea from West Ham United in a £18m deal in January but was unable to prevent the Swans from being relegated.

Ayew, 28, first signed for Swansea in 2015 from Ligue 1 side Marseilles and made 34 appearances and scored 12 goals in his debut season.

"I understand the circumstances of the move - it's part of the restructure of us going forward," Swansea manager Graham Potter said.

"From my perspective, he has been brilliant. He has applied himself in training, supported what we are trying to do and been very professional.

"He has been a joy to work with and we wish him the best."
