Medeama progress in CAF Cup

Ghana’s representatives in the CAF Confederation Cup, Medeama SC, last Sunday handed their Libyan counterparts, Al-Ittihad, a 2-0 defeat to qualify for the next stage of the competition.

Striker Abass Mohammed scored both goals to give the homesters a 2-1 aggregate for the qualification, having lost the first leg 0-1 in Tunis last week.

Medeama dominated proceedings from the blast of the whistle and maintained possession but missed several chances.

Al Ittihad had what they thought was a legitimate goal disallowed by referee Daouda Gauye for offside.

Emmanuel Yeboah’s wonderful volley scraped the post but Mohammed was available at the right place to tap home the first goal before netting the second a couple of minutes to recess.
