In all, 16 delegates converged on the conference hall of the Theodosia Okoh Hockey Stadium in Accra to elect new officers to take charge of the association for the next four years.

The position of Vice President went to Madam Elizabeth King, who is the treasurer of the Africa Hockey Federation.

Ms King, who was the Treasurer of the GHA prior to the elections last Saturday, defeated Mr Kwame Owusu (Kowus) with nine votes as against seven by her opponent.

Two other members Mr Frank Oti-Mensah and Madam Grace Ankomah were also elected as executive members to help steer the affairs of the association with Mr Albert Ofori getting the nod to take over from Ms King as an Honorary Treasurer.

Speaking on behalf of the newly-elected executives after they were sworn in, Dr Asante called for unity among members of the Ghana hockey fraternity to accelerate the pace of development of hockey in Ghana.

He acknowledged that some of the key challenges confronting hockey as a sport were funding and infrastructure.

He said it was, therefore, important for the members to forge a united front to enable them to devise means of addressing the challenges.

This, he noted, would make hockey more attractive and adorable to the sports fraternity.
