Dogboe off to the UK for training

WBO interim super Bantamweight champion,Isaac Dogboe, left for the United Kingdom last Friday to continue preparations towards his upcoming WBO Junior Featherweight Championship against Jessie Magdaleno in las Vegas.

Dogboe (18-0, 12 KOs) will intensify his training in London before his team moves to the United States for the final brushup ahead of the April 14 showdown against the Mexican at the Mandalay Bay Arena Arena.

Before leaving for London,, Dogboe and members of the Rising Star Africa Promotuions, led by his father and trainer, Paul, on the United States of America Ambassador to Ghana, Robert Jackson, at the US Embassy to present to him his WBO Interim Super Bantamweight title.

The 23-year-old boxer thanked Ambassador Jackson for his support and encouragement and promised to live up to expectation both in the ring and outside of it as a role model for the youth of the country.

Ambassador Jackson charged Dogboe to be of good influence on the Ghanaian youth who, he said, were looking up to him for inspiration for their everyday life.

After beating Mexican Cesar Juarez to win the WBO Interim Super Bantamweight Championship on January 6 in Accra, Dogboe earned the chance to challenge champion Magdaleno for the WBO crown.

The April 14 fight in Las Vegas will be another world title chance for a Ghanaian this year following failed attempts by Habib Ahmed and Maxwell Awuku to win a world title.

Ahmed lost in a six round technical knockout to Gilberto Ramirez last January in Texas for the WBO Super Middleweight title before Awuku was stopped in three rounds by Miguel Berchelt in a WBC Lightweight ttle fight in Mexico on February 10.
