Diego Simeone, the manager of Atletico Madrid, has jokingly stated that players who have sex only four times a month would not feature in his teams.

The 53-year-old Argentinian, who has been at the helm of Atletico Madrid since 2011, has led the club to secure at least a third-place finish in LaLiga this season, with one game remaining.

During an interview with Cadena COPE, Simeone discussed various pressing matters for Atletico, including the return of Joao Felix from Chelsea and his own future at the club. However, there was also room for personal matters in the extensive conversation, during which Simeone responded to a study mentioned by the presenter, which claimed that the average Spaniard has sex 56 times a year.

Simeone humorously replied, "How many? 56... 56 a year... How many in a month? Four a month? Four a month, no..." When pressed for a more realistic number, he playfully responded, "Fifteen a month? I'm not going to say... but we have a good average."

The Atletico Madrid manager secretly married model Carla Pereyra in June 2019, and they have two daughters together. Simeone also has three sons from his previous marriage, all of whom are professional footballers.

Last year, Simeone expressed dissatisfaction with his first wife, Carolina Baldini, for publicly discussing their separation on Argentinian television, twelve years after their split.

Simeone has pledged to fulfill the remaining year of his managerial contract at Atletico, stating, "We have one more year on our contract, and I'm focused on continuing to give my best." He added that the priority at the moment is not his contract, and discussions will take place later when deemed appropriate by Atletico CEO Miguel Ángel Gil.

Meanwhile, Joao Felix is set to return to Atletico Madrid after his loan spell at Chelsea, as incoming Blues boss Mauricio Pochettino has deemed his services unnecessary.

Atletico Madrid will conclude their LaLiga season with an away match against Villarreal on Sunday evening.
