Ghana emerged victorious in the inaugural WAFU B U-20 Girls Cup as they defeated Nigeria 3-1 in a penalty shootout in Kumasi.

The Black Princesses took the lead in the 38th minute of the first half when captain Stella Nyamekye successfully converted a penalty kick.

Despite Nigeria's high-pressure start to the game in search of an opening goal, they failed to capitalize on their chances.

In the 16th minute, Nigeria came close to scoring, but their attempt was thwarted by Afi Amenyaku, who made a crucial save to push the ball over the crossbar.

Throughout the second half, Nigeria continued to mount pressure, with Esther Opeyemi showcasing her skills in the box, but Afi Amenyaku denied her with another impressive save.

Faiza Seidu also made a promising attempt for Ghana, weaving through the Nigerian defense, but her shot was blocked, resulting in a corner kick.

In the 86th minute, Afi Amenyaku made an unfortunate error, allowing Flourish Sabastien to equalize for Nigeria, making it 1-1.

With the scores level after regulation time, the match went into a nerve-wracking penalty shootout.

Afi Amenyaku emerged as the hero of the shootout, making two crucial saves from Nigeria's spot kicks.

Mary Amponsah sealed the victory for Ghana by scoring the decisive penalty, securing the WAFU B U-20 Girls trophy for her team.
