Fans of Asante Kotoko were left with no option than to chant the name of their Brazilian import, Fabio Gama, following a scintillating display that helped Kotoko beat Liberty Professionals 2-0 at the Accra Sports Stadium on Monday.
As if to shame the pessimist who doubted the viability of the investment the club made to capture him, Gama played a crucial role in all the two goals that Kwame Poku scored in the 10th and 19th minutes as well as came close to scoring in the 72nd minute from a free header.
Gama whose debut for the Porcupine Warriors had delayed due to the late acquisition of his work permit, gave a good account of himself on his debut game for Kotoko.
His every move drew large applauds from the fans who chanted Gama, Gama just to show appreciation for his contribution on the day.
Contrary to earlier report that the player could not play more than 30 minutes on the local turf, the Brazilian never showed any sign of exhaustion for the over 80 minutes that he played.
The fans showed more appreciation with thunderous applause for the player when the fourth referee, lifted the board to signal for his substitution on the 85th minute.
