Renowned Highlife singer and songwriter, Pat Thomas, will share the stage at the +233 Jazz Bar and Grill in Accra with other acclaimed Highlife acts on September 26, 2026 as he celebrates his 80th birthday.
The man, also widely referred to as the Golden Voice of Africa, has composed and recorded real gems in his long career. His bubbly spirit and unique voice continue to inspire both established and up-and-coming musicians. That’s why many of them would be on hand to say kudos to the cherished Highlife giant.
Acts scheduled to perform at the Pat Thomas@80 concert include Gyedu Blay Ambolley, Pozo Hayes, Kwabena Kwabena, Amandzeba, Obrafour, Wutah Afriyie, Akosua Agyepong, Ben Brako, Bessa Simons and KK Fosu. They will all be backed by the Bessa Band.
Commenting on the upcoming concert, Wutah Afriyie said: “I feel truly humbled to be part of those to perform at the celebration of Uncle Pat Thomas. His songs raised me before I even knew I would do music. Let’s come together to honour our living legend.”
Pat Thomas has been part of outfits like Uhuru Band, Sweet Beans, Marijata and Kwashibu Area Band over the years. His delightful voice has survived the decades and Ghanaians and non-Ghanaians alike still listen and dance to his music.
His unforgettable songs which touch on different facets of life include Momma Meka Bi, Antokyire, Yesu San Bra, Gyae Su, Mensei Da, Medo Wiase and Sika Ye Mogya. He always has what it takes to make fans ponder over his lyrics and also draw them to the dance floor.
There is a lot still going for Highlife despite the presence of other notable genres. Pat Thomas must be applauded for being part of those who have continued to hold the Highlife flag high.
If your intention is to attend only one major live music event before the end of this year, then join up at +233 on September 26 to honour the Golden Voice of Africa.
