Referee E.R. Biney has been banned by the Executive Committee of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) for “unsatisfactory performance” during the recent match between Kumasi Asante Kotoko and Kpando Heart of Lions.
After a careful study of a report by the match review panel, the Executive Committee concluded that the referee denied Kotoko a first half spot kick when Kotoko’s Isaac Boakye was fouled in the Lions penalty area in the first half, and that was a good example of his overall unsatisfactory performance.
Meanwhile, Kotoko’s supporters have been charged for their misconduct during the match with Lions.
The club is to make an appearance before the FA’s Disciplinary Committee next Wednesday to respond to two charges of misconduct after the club’s fans threw water sachets and bottles onto the tracks of the stadium after the game and also physically assaulted the match officials.
Kotoko Team Manager, Godwin Ablordey, was also charged with misconduct after physically assaulting assistant referee in the same game, Ashitey Armah.
