Lionel Messi believes Argentina will need a bit of luck in order to win the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.
According to the Barcelona star, Spain were fortunate to be crowned world champions four years ago following Arjen Robben's failure to guide Netherlands to glory.
Robben missed a huge chance to gift Holland the lead when he found himself one-on-one with Iker Casillas in the second half of the final and Messi thinks Spain would not have emerged victorious had Robben converted his chance.
"You need the luck of the champions in order to win the World Cup, just like Spain had in South Africa," the three-time World Player of the Year told TyC Sports.
Messi said: "Spain were the best team at the 2010 World Cup, but they were fortunate that Robben missed two huge chances in the final."
"Xavi and Iniesta are my friends and they told me that they want me to win the World Cup.
"Everybody in Argentina will go absolutely crazy if we win the World Cup.
"I really hope Alejandro Sabella will continue as national team coach after the tournament."
Argentina are in Group F alongside Nigeria, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Iran.
